Welcome to the Millennium August Newsletter!

With August here, it’s time to say farewell to the Tokyo Olympic Games and congratulate Team Great Britain on a creditable 4th place in the medal table. The next Olympics takes place in Paris in just three years’ time so preparation will soon be underway to continue the recent run of success achieved by GB.

Millennium’s events schedule takes a break in August and resumes in September. The Annual Unit4 Financials User Conference takes place in London in October and will be an on-site event that will provide the opportunity to gather information and reconnect with people once again. We look forward to seeing you there.

Latest White Paper: Steering the ship during times of extreme uncertainty

Our “Steering the Ship During Times of Extreme Uncertainty” paper looks at how critical FP&A is as we enter the phase of the unknown during & after COVID-19. It highlights important approaches that may prove valuable to those in FP&A across all verticals.

One of the key factors in successfully navigating through levels of uncertainty is a simple acknowledgement that you don’t know. You don’t know what will happen. You don’t know how long this will last. And you don’t know what the best way to handle it will be.

Therefore, in acknowledgement that we do not know, and fully encouraging alternative views, we attempt to highlight a few approaches that may prove valuable to you. We discuss:

  • Dumping your long-term plans.
  • Thinking short-term and scenario-based.
  • Developing an ‘options’ mindset.
  • Communicating and aligning teams.

We’re now registered providers with the CPD Certification Service

We are pleased to announce that we are now an official registered provider with the CPD Certification Service. Established in 1996, The CPD Certification Service is the largest and leading independent CPD accreditation organisation working across all industry sectors.

This means finance professionals undertaking courses run by Millennium Consulting count towards annual professional development requirements set by professional regulators. Any delegate attending the future courses will be issued with an accredited CPD Certificate of Attendance, which they can subsequently use within their formal CPD record for a professional body, institute or employer.

We are currently submitting courses for approval, and these will soon be available to book via the CPD Service.

Our accreditation can be verified by clicking this link: https://cpduk.co.uk/providers/millennium-consulting

Our July Beach Clean

With their grabbers and gloves at the ready, our team swapped the office for the beach.

With the help of Folkestone & Hythe District Council, on Friday 22nd July the team headed out in the sunshine and fresh sea air to take part in a voluntary litter pick along Hythe beach.

At least 8 million tons of plastic find their way to our oceans every year and makeup 80% of all marine debris. Marine species ingest or are entangled by plastic debris, which causes severe injury and death.

Everyone has a part to play, no matter how great or small.

Employee Spotlight: Sauro Zani

What is your favourite weekend trip?
I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling in the mountains in the summer and skiing in winter.

Who is your hero, and why?
My hero is Mario Draghi, the Italian prime minister. I think we had an unfit leadership in Italy in the last twenty-five years which my country didn’t deserve. Now things have turned to a proper level, with great relief for every “man of good will”.

This month we continue our Employee Spotlight series, a chance for you to meet the faces behind Millennium Consulting. Say hello to Sauro Zani.

We asked Sauro a few questions about his favourite weekend trip, what current professional skill is he working on, as well who is his hero! To find out more about our team, click here.

Have you lived in another country?
I have travelled for work during the last 25 years, visiting almost every European country and further afield, from Dubai to Sweden, Portugal and Poland – but always lived in the town where I was born, the Italian Western Alps, in the beautiful countryside.

What is one professional skill you are currently working on?

Currently, I’m quite busy understanding the implications of the Cloud. In this year there has been a paradigm shift meaning we must gain awareness of all its implications.
